Cycle Against Suicide

Well done to our group of 5th year cyclists and Holly Carrigy-Cassidy R8, who cycled from Granard to Longford as part of a group of over 600 cyclists taking part in Cycle Against Suicide. The leg started in Cnoc Mhuire Granard on Friday April 28th and travelled through Ballinalee onward towards Longford town, where they had a brief rest in the mall sports complex. En route, the cyclists enjoyed great support from community groups and schools – Granard Primary School, Ardscoil Phadraig, Granard pre-school, Ballinalee Primary School and Ballinalee crèche all lined the routeway and cheered on the cyclists. Our own first and second years and their teachers gave the cyclists a rapturous applause as they approached New Street. The cycle continued Westward to Lanesborough and on the Scoil Mhuire, Roscommon. Well done to Jade Gill, Doireann McCarthy, Maria Gordon, Niamh Darcy, Holly Carrigy-Cassidy and Una Clarke. Thank you to Mr Masterson for transporting all the bikes to Granard and for, along with Ms Hardiman, accompanying the cyclists on the journey. Thanks also to Mr Skully and Mr Carroll who helped organise the event. Remember the important message that the organisers of this nationwide event want to spread – ‘its ok not to feel ok’ and ‘its definitely ok to ask for help’.
