Sports day

Last Wednesday we held our annual school sports in Slashers. We enjoyed a great day of activity and fun under glorious Spring sunshine. There was something for everyone – sprints, relays, middle distance running, skipping, golf, penalty shooting, potatoe picking, puc fada and human chair. The inflatables and sumo wrestling kept us all happy in between events. Everyone enjoyed the novelty events in the afternoon and huge numbers participated. The 6th years took ownership of their last sports day in Mean Scoil Mhuire and competed against the teachers in a game of rounders. Several minor disputes arose but no major rows broke out and everyone emerged from the game unscathed! The sports finished with the popular tug-of-war. Before we went home the presentation took place. Ms Mc Hugh presented the medals to all prize winners. Well done to all students who participated and entered into the spirit of the occasion. Thank you to all the teachers who helped organise the events, to Mary who brought up the shop and to Slashers GAA for the use of their excellent facilities for the day.
