TY Visit to DCU and UCD
47 TY students, accompanied by Mrs O Brien, Ms Mullen and Ms Griffin, visited two top universities in Dublin as well as NUIM on Friday 31st March. We arrived in DCU at 10.00am and were greeted by 3 student ambassadors who split us into groups and brought us on a tour of the College and told us all about the courses in DCU and College life in general. We left DCU at 11.20 and proceeded to UCD on the South of the city. Here we were greeted by College staff and brought to the John Hume building where we received a 50 minute talk on courses in the University and all the extra-curricular activities on offer. We were then split into 5 groups and brought on a guided tour of the University. Back on the bus at 2.20, and with no time for lunch, our bus driver brought us straight out to Maynooth University, where we were met by Emma from the Admissions office. Aoife introduced our group to 5 student ambassadors who took us on a tour of the campus and informed us of University courses and facilities. At 4.30 we were back on the bus for home but first got a quick and welcomed food and comfort stop in Apple Green. All in all, it was a very informative and busy day. We now have first-hand knowledge of 3 of the 7 Irish Universities and what course options are available. We all are, therefore, better equipped to make career decisions.
