Gaisce Trip

On Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th May, the Bronze Gaisce students embarked on their Adventure to Shannon River Adventure Centre. The girls learned many new skills, to do with camping, rowing, cooking and learning to live without amenities that are part of everyday life, such as electricity and phones. The girls represented the school very well, and we hope everyone enjoyed the trip!

T.Y. Night

This Tuesday, the Transition Years held an open night for their parents. During this, the T.Y.’s showcased their work from throughout the year and talked about their many interesting experiences throughout the year. The night was a great success, which was enjoyed by all.

Y.S.I.

Students Aisling Gillen, Aoife Kane, Felicia Olusanya , Mary Smyth and Maeve Donnelly from the Y.S.I. committee attended the annual showcase in City West Hotel on Wednesday last. The girls were presenting their work from the year, displaying the very successful ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’ week they held and the area enhancement project they took part in. The girls were treated to a fun filled day and had the opportunity to meet ministers Phil Hogan and Frances Fitzgearld. As well as that President Michael D. Higgins spoke to the the hundreds of young people in attendance. Committee member Maeve Donnelly was also interviewed for RTE Radio 1 and a great day was had by everyone involved. Ms Killian accompanied the girls on the day and has been a great help to the girls all year as well as Ms O’Brien.

T.Y. Interviews

On Thursday 10th and Friday 11th May, the T.Y.’s had their employer interviews. Each Transition Year personalised their box portfolios and filled them with work that we completed throughout the year.

Field Trip

On Wednesday 9th May, we travelled to Annaghmore bog and Corlea Trackway Centre. At Annaghmore bog, we conducted a field study. In Corlea, we were shown the impressive trackway and brought to explore the bog. We enjoyed the trip a lot!

T.Y. Driving

On Thursday 10th and Friday 11thMay, we had a team of driving instructors in to teach us how to drive. The instructors taught us some theory and also brought us out to practice our driving skills in cars!

Athlethics

Congratulations to all the students who competed in the regional track and field championship in sligo IT recently. Well done to Kira Coughlan and Niamh Belton 3rd year who both qualified for the Connaught Finals in Athlone on May 17th. Thanks to Ms.Campbell and Ms.Hardiman who accompanied the girls on the day.

Gaisce

On Thursday and Friday last the students completed the bronze Gaisce award and travelled to Rooskey where they camped on a remote island and participated in many activitites. Despite the hardship of not having running water and cooking facilities for the two days the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to Ms.Mulcahy and Ms Farrell who accompanied the girls on their adventure trip.

Swimming

Congratulations to Ciara McNevin who won gold in the butterfly and silver in the free and breastroke in the Athlone Gala. Also well done to Aideen Skelly, Ailbhe Farrell, Kate Sweeney and Laura Kenny on achieving personal bests
