Sports and Nutrition Talk
On Thursday last, Aishling Sheridan visited our TY students and senior sports teams to speak about the importance of nutrition and healthy habits in sport and daily life. Aishling is a nutritional coach and personal trainer, who has returned from playing AFL and is currently training and playing with Mullahoran and Cavan GAA teams. Aishling discussed a range of topics including how to fuel our bodies throughout the day, what a balanced meal should look like, and common food myths—particularly those often seen on social media. A key focus of the talk was under-fuelling in sport and how it can affect performance, health, and recovery. Hydration and its role in overall well-being and athletic performance were also highlighted. The girls came away with a greater understanding of how to achieve balance—not just in what they eat, but in how they train and rest. We would like to sincerely thank Aishling for such an engaging and informative session and for her advice and time.
