Student Council Comhairle na nÓg
On Thursday 24th of October members of our Student Council attended Comhairle na nOg. They met with students from local schools to focus on issues that the youth of Longford are experiencing. They spoke about local issues such as mental health, facilities in the area and exam stress. The council voted to focus on mental health this year. The students attended three different workshops including music generation, circus and teamwork. They were also addressed by Councillor Niall Gannon. The girls really enjoyed the event
Pumpkin Carving Competitions
First Year and TY students were delighted to participate in our annual Pumpkin Carving Competition. The entries were spooktacular and showed high levels of imagination and creativity. Congratulations to all prize winners and participants and a special thank you to Ms Killian for organising the event.


Halloween Table Quiz
On Wednesday, our first year English classes took part in a Halloween Table Quiz. They were put through their paces by Ms King, Mr Dennigan, Ms Ross and Ms Reilly with the help of some Transition Year volunteers. Six teams emerged victorious and walked away with some yummy prizes! Happy Halloween


TY Halloween Photography
TY2 photography class with their tutor Leanne ventured to Ardagh Heritage Centre on Monday, October 21st, setting the scene for Halloween. The girls took some incredible, Halloween inspired pictures and thoroughly enjoyed the photography session.

TY Ericsson Work Experience Placement
Congratulations to Sarah Ghee ,Mia O’Connor and Clodagh Farrell who were selected for the Ericsson Work Experience Placement last week. The girls along with students from Granard, Ballymahon , Moyne and St.Mels learned about coding ,AI and software engineering. They successfully completed a website for a telecommunications company which they presented to members of the leadership team. A huge thank you to Ericsson for giving the girls this wonderful experience.

Maths Week Success
Our students were delighted to participate in a very busy but enjoyable Maths Week here in Meán Scoil Mhuire. Students were given opportunities every day to engage in mathematical activities. We had maths puzzle, the 1st and second years enjoyed games, and bingo at lunchtime in the gym. The TY students assisted the Maths Department by organising and running the maths quizzes and for each year group as well as the Maths Scavenger Hunt. Well done to all involved. An especial thank you to the Maths Department for all their hard work and planning.
Halloween Festivities
Friday, October 25th marked our annual Halloween Dress Up day and as usual the standard of costume was outstanding. Ghosts, Vampires, M&Ms. Mario, minions, rappers, ghouls, fire fighters and security guards wandered the corridors on route to class at 9 in the morning. Judging of best costumes had not taken place prior to submission. Well done to everyone involved.
