Sports Day 2025

Our annual Sports Day was held on Thursday, May 1st and if anything, the day exceeded our expectations. Arriving to Slashers, the students were greeted by no less than twenty one stations of activities designed to challenge their sporting prowess and collaboration skills. Each class group rotated from station to station every eight minutes and participated in events from discus to potato picking, dodgeball to long jump, penalty shot outs to giant connect four. Students relished the chance to engage in outdoor challenging activities on what was a glorious day of sunshine. After a well-deserved lunch break the novelty afternoon events commenced. The Leaving Certificate Class, who had dressed up in neon colours and leg warmers for the momentous occasion challenged the teachers to the much anticipated rounders match. Despite the brave efforts of the Sixth Year students, unfortunately, the might of the staff proved too great and they were defeated! Other afternoon events included Sumo suit wrestling, sprints, relay races as well as the sack, egg and spoon race and the three-legged race. We would like to thank all of our students and staff who participated in the day’s events with such enthusiasm and glee. We would also like to thank the PE Department, Ms Hardiman, Mr Sweeney and Ms Jobe for their Trojan work in planning an action-packed programme and finally we would like to thank Slashers for the use of their facilities.

Camogie Presentations

We were delighted to welcome Ruben Murray, the captain of the Longford Senior Hurling Team, to the school on Wednesday April 30th. Reuben presented our successful TY Camogie Team with their medals, which they won in their recent Leinster blitzes in Tullamore and Carlow. It was an honour to have a county representative in the school for this event and his presence was inspiration. We would

like to thank Reuben for his time and also thank Ms Regan, Mr Sweeney and Ms Carey for coahing the team. We would also like to thank Mr O Ceallaigh and Mr Bennet for their assistance this year.
