In Méan Scoil Mhuire, we encourage a social conscience and promote stewardship in our students. With this in mind our first Green Schools Committee was set up in 2014. Our school was presented with our first prestigious Green Flag under the theme of Litter & Waste in 2015. Since then, the Green School initiative has flourished in our school. Under the guidance of Ms. Healy and subsequent Green Schools Committees’, the whole school community, staff and students have worked together to achieve two more flags. At present we are working on our fourth flag. We are indebted to Andy O’Dowd, Longford Tidy Towns; Gary Brady, Environmental Officer in Longford County Council; and Sr. Elizabeth McNamee, our former principal and environmentalist, for their constant support and encouragement throughout our journey.
